Celebrating our September Using Minecraft as a Therapeutic Tool: Level 2 cohort

We're celebrating our most recent Using Minecraft as a Therapeutic Tool: Level 2 cohort, who finished their training this September. Practitioners spent the sessions building skills and confidence in using Minecraft as a therapeutic tool with the children and young people they work with.

This was a truly international group, with practitioners based in Australia, Singapore and the UK. We timed this cohort to suit practitioners in Australia and Asia, and it was lovely to see how easily the group connected across time zones and settings.

Level 2 runs in small groups, which gives everyone space to get to know each other, reflect together and, of course, play in Minecraft. At the end of the training, practitioners left their thoughts on signs in our Minecraft world. One read "funnest PD evaaaa" (PD being professional development, the Australian equivalent of CPD), and another simply said "Thanks Ellie, this was brillianttttt".

In their written feedback after the training, one practitioner shared:

"This was the most enjoyable course I have done in my career as a counsellor/play therapist. I now have access to many different therapeutic Minecraft activities. I am also excited to build some of my own worlds to help my clients. Ellie is really supportive throughout the training. The small group size helps to keep the training educational, friendly and enjoyable. Highly recommend this training to anyone working with children and teenagers."

Level 2 is certified by the CPD Certification Service. We're also pleased to share that PlayMode Academy is now an APT Approved Provider, and Level 2 provides 6 APT Non-Contact CE hours. This feels especially timely with our next cohort in November, which is timed to suit practitioners in North America. Play therapy credit available to mental health professionals and graduate students in a mental health program. Full details are on the Level 2 course page.

Our latest impact survey report, showing the difference this training is making to children's lives, is on the impact page of the PlayMode Academy website.

We run cohorts at different times of day so practitioners in different parts of the world can join us. The upcoming November cohort is timed to suit practitioners in North America, running on Tuesday 10th and Tuesday 17th November, 4pm to 7:30pm UK time. The next cohort timed to suit practitioners in Australia and Asia runs on Saturday 15th and Saturday 22nd May, 10am to 1:30pm UK time.

Level 2 builds on Level 1, so practitioners need to complete Level 1 before joining. Full dates for the upcoming academic year can be viewed here.
